Our client is an ambitious and growing UK manufacturing business looking for an experienced and commercially minded Technical Manager to provide technical leadership and support across two local sites.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.

You will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Estimating, Procurement and Aftercare, ensuring products are technically compliant, practical to manufacture and continually improved.

The Role

The Technical Manager will take ownership of technical matters from initial product and project design through to manufacture, installation and aftercare.

You will be responsible for maintaining technical standards, supporting new product development, resolving complex technical issues and ensuring products continue to meet relevant regulatory, quality and performance requirements.

The role will be based across Huntingdon and Biggleswade, with regular travel between the two sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support across the business
• Act as the escalation point for complex product, design, manufacturing and installation-related technical queries
• Review drawings, specifications and project requirements to ensure products are suitable, compliant and manufacturable
• Produce, review and approve technical drawings and supporting documentation
• Work closely with Sales and Estimating teams on technically complex quotations and customer requirements
• Support Manufacturing with technical queries, product specifications and production-related issues
• Investigate product quality and aftercare issues, identifying root causes and permanent corrective actions
• Support the development, testing and introduction of new products and product improvements
• Carry out product design work, technical calculations and simulations where appropriate
• Work with suppliers and Procurement to assess components, materials and alternative product solutions
• Maintain accurate technical specifications, drawings, manuals and product documentation
• Ensure products meet relevant UK Building Regulations, industry standards and certification requirements
• Support product testing, certification and ongoing compliance activities
• Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency, quality and cost
• Provide technical training and guidance to colleagues across the business
• Work closely with Operations and senior management to support continuous improvement

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with a practical understanding of manufacturing and commercial requirements.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Technical Manager, Technical Engineer, Design Engineer or in a similar technical role
• Strong experience with technical drawings, specifications and manufacturing processes
• Experience using CAD or technical design software
• Experience investigating technical problems and developing practical solutions
• A good understanding of product testing, certification and regulatory compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to communicate technical information to customers, suppliers and colleagues at all levels
• The ability to manage multiple technical priorities across two operational sites
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and product development
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Huntingdon and Biggleswade

The Offer

• £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
